To correct a jewelry display ticket, control the whole replacement—not just the next printout. Establish which price field is authorized for that exact offer, prove the corrected ticket against checkout, and withdraw obsolete copies. If those sources disagree, stop the replacement process at the mismatch instead of choosing whichever number looks plausible.

Open one ticket-change case

Consider a hypothetical display where a ticket beside a brooch-and-earrings set was generated from an Ear Clip option row and an unapproved exported price field. The ticket is wrong in two ways: its unit does not match the object, and nobody has established that its amount is the store's approved selling price. No actual Rustic Jewel Co ticket or price is being described.

Record the affected variant, fixture, ticket revision, source file, print time, and copies known to exist. Preserve one marked evidence copy. Remove misleading tickets from customer-facing use while the responsible person resolves the offer; do not leave a corrected proof beside an obsolete ticket as though both were valid.

Name the price authority before mapping the field

Candidate field What it can establish Correction decision
Supplier wholesale amount A supplier-side figure for its stated unit Not automatically the customer ticket price
Marketplace exported retail amount The retail figure supplied in that export Requires store approval; not automatically current
Store-approved selling price The authorized price for the exact offer and context Use only after identity, currency and effective version agree
Checkout result What the tested purchase path currently displays Compare with approval; disagreement is a blocker

Faire's export documentation separates wholesale and retail price fields. Shopify also distinguishes price from compare-at price. Neither distinction authorizes staff to invent a new price. The designated price owner must identify the approved field and context; tax or discount discrepancies require that owner's review, not an improvised rule in the ticket template.

Prove the exact option before printing a batch

Map the corrected source row to the product and variant identifiers, unit, currency, and approved price version. In the example, the Set row—not an adjacent Ear Clip row—must supply the offer identity. The butterfly brooch and ear-clip Set option illustrates why preserving a selected-option reference matters. Its photograph does not authorize pricing separate options as one combined bundle.

The selected Set option is the brooch-and-ear-clip grouping; the separate Ear Clip option must not inherit its ticket. View the product and current options.

Print one proof using the intended template, label stock, and printer settings. Shopify's label documentation describes template constraints; the actual output still needs inspection. Confirm the distinguishing option, unit, currency and amount remain readable and untruncated at the fixture's normal viewing positions, including a seated view where relevant.

Hold a proof that disagrees with checkout

Compare the proof with the approved record and the authorized checkout or POS test for the same option and selling context. Do not place a real order merely to test a ticket. Record what was observed, when, and through which path.

If approval matches the proof but not checkout, hold the ticket release and route the system discrepancy to its owner. If approval matches checkout but not the proof, correct the print source or mapping. If all three disagree, return to price authority. Do not override checkout simply to make the printed ticket appear correct. Any customer transaction follows the store's actual escalation process; this procedure creates no price entitlement.

Replace copies with a small withdrawal manifest

Assign the approved replacement a new revision. List every affected fixture, product card, spare-label envelope, and queued print batch. Record each obsolete copy withdrawn and each new copy installed. Mark the old source as superseded so the next shift cannot innocently reprint it.

If replacement is interrupted, identify the unfinished fixtures and keep the unresolved offer from relying on mixed tickets. Resume from the manifest rather than starting a second uncontrolled batch. A missing spare-copy count remains a follow-up item, not assumed completion.

Close with evidence of agreement

Have the responsible reviewer verify the installed ticket, exact object or option, approved price version, checkout comparison, and obsolete-copy disposition. Retain the evidence and decision; do not claim a successful change from a printer's completion message alone.
