If you ordered the wrong jewelry option, contact the seller promptly with the option you bought and the one you intended to buy. Ask whether the order can still be amended. Do not assume that an order without a shipping confirmation is editable, or that sending a request cancels it.

The immediate goal is to correct a submitted purchase if the seller's process allows it—not to place a second order before you know what will happen to the first.

Use the order confirmation to identify the mistake

Look at the submitted order line, not just the product page you have open now. A gallery can show several colors or fastenings while the order contains only one selected option.

Separate the product name from the option. “The purple earrings” may identify the design but leave Stud versus Clip-On unresolved. For a ring, the decorative face does not tell support which numbered size was purchased. Our photo-to-option guide explains why those distinctions matter.

If the confirmation already shows the intended selection, there may be no product-option error to correct. Ask about any contradictory image or wording rather than requesting a change to a different item by mistake.

Unshipped does not necessarily mean changeable

Merchant procedures differ. On October 13, 2026, Kendra Scott's general-order FAQ said submitted orders could not be changed or canceled because processing starts promptly. BaubleBar invited immediate requests but did not guarantee changes; it excluded changes to custom orders. gorjana directed customers to contact support so it could see what was possible.

These examples do not create an RJC edit window. They show why the seller's answer matters more than a guess about whether the parcel has left the building.

A pre-order also needs its own answer. Waiting for readiness is not proof that every order detail remains editable; the pre-order gift guide covers that separate timing question.

Make one clear request

Use the seller's official support route. Include the order number, checkout email, product link and exact change requested. Keep payment-card information out of the message.

For example, in a hypothetical order: “My confirmation lists Stud. I intended Clip-On for the same design. Can this order still be amended? Please confirm the resulting option, or tell me if the order must remain as submitted.”

If cancellation is acceptable instead, say so clearly, but ask which action the seller can perform. Do not leave support to infer whether you want a different item, a canceled order or merely an explanation of a photograph.

See how a real fastening choice changes the request

Ornate gold-tone earrings with purple square centers, one turned over to show a hinged clip
This catalog back view shows hinged clip hardware. The link selects Clip-On, not the separately offered Stud option.

The current RJC listing for this purple-centered statement design sells a pair with Stud and Clip-On choices. Its inspected back photo shows a hinged clip with a clear round contact pad. That makes the Clip-On selection relevant to the pictured hardware; the front ornament alone would not establish it.

If you wanted this fastening but submitted Stud, name both options in the request. Do not ask the seller to “send the ones in the picture” when the gallery and order line may communicate different things.

Wait for confirmation before treating the order as changed

An acknowledgment that support received your message is not necessarily approval of an amendment. Look for a response stating what will happen to the specific order, including the resulting option or confirmed cancellation.

If another email still shows the original selection, ask the seller to reconcile the two messages. Avoid assuming that an old confirmation is harmless or that a new product-page selection has updated the paid order.

Likewise, a second checkout creates a separate purchase unless the seller explicitly confirms otherwise. It can leave you with two orders rather than a corrected first one.

If the change is too late, switch to the applicable next step

Ask about the actual return or exchange process for the purchase. Review RJC's current shipping and support information rather than assuming every item can be returned. A seller shipping something different from the confirmed order is a different issue from a buyer selecting an unwanted option.

Contact RJC with the exact order and desired option. Its current support pages provide an inquiry route, not a guaranteed amendment service. The problem is resolved when you know the confirmed outcome—not merely when the request has been sent.
